...a disturbing discovery...

I think I've accidentally invented a new smiley...

#:|     -   it stands for Bad Hair Day. A friend at work took it a step further and created this...
#:|#   -   yes that's a Bad Hair and Beard Day smiley.

It's rather unsettling being an inventor of a device of such awesome power but I guess I'll just have to live with it.

PS: Before claiming all credit for this I did the obligatory Google search and found nothing I thus hence claim this to be mine!!!

...reminiscence of a love lost...

Hey Guys,

Been a while I know...but unfortunately it going be a little while longer before you get to see another video from us. There is a ton of stuff getting finished and we really wanted to show it off finished, hence the delay.
We've also had a few additions to our team since our last post, but more on that in the next post.

Now you're probably thinking: "...what the hell was that title all about?" well...

This is our very first concept art piece lovingly drawn by our newest and youngest member Julia. She has done an amazing job and we hope you guys like it as much as we do.

There is more where this came from and we will try to show it of soon but till then I have some screens for you to enjoy....just don't enjoy 'em too much.

a step forward...so to speak.

Hi Guys,

It's been quite a while since we last updated this thing. There are various excuses for that but I'm fairly certain you heard them all before. But it's not all bad :), we did make quite a few steps forward and so did our old friend Chester (why we called the guy Chester is beyond me).

Here is a little video of our first attempts at making our character walk about.

The animation system is still in development and most of what you see is just a hack to hold all the relevant scripts from falling apart. It's still cool to see the dude walk around though.
There are a few other bits in development and we hope to have those done soon so with any luck we should have a significantly better version of this thing by the end of the month.

A few other interesting things happened recently, the most exiting of which is the fact that by the looks of things Piotr Koczewski will be the man behind Postworld's sound track.
We are all extremely excited about this, Piotr has been wandering the wasteland for quite a while so you probably seen (or heard rather :)) his work in other titles.

All in all an up and down month as per usual but it's all good fun.

Commercials? Sure why not.

We are back...with gifts no less.

A messenger barged into our vault last night with an unexpected delivery. Ok, that's a lie...we were expecting it.
Folks we are now proud owners of the Unity Pro licence and are damn ecstatic about it.

As soon as we stopped giggling like little kids we had a chance to put this small vid together.

So, now the vault dudes got some entertainment, we'll also try to bring some Mexican soaps for the ladies although I'm not sure they had them back in the day.

Camera Basics

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since our last update, but I'm sure you weren't that anxious to see more lame-ass screens of a half baked demo map. So, this time we prepared a lame-ass vid :) . Ok it's not that bad.

That's our internal test map that we use to debug scripts and build tileset prefabs and whatnot. Since Ain is busy with personal stuff the map is a bit of a dump at the moment.

Besides the models you can obviously see pretty much all of the camera related scripts in action. There are still a few optimizations and additions pending as far as the camera is concerned but overall this is a more or less finished component that will most likely stay like this until the tech demo is released.

Here is a quick overview of major camera functionality (some of which you can see in the video) :
  • Edge scrolling
  • Key scrolling (pending)
  • Mouse wheel rotation
  • Key rotation (pending)
  • Center camera on player on key press
  • Smooth scroll (pending)
  • Smooth rotation

That's all I could show today. Hopefully next time I'll have something more exciting to show you :)

Engine crisis? No not really...

I completely forgot to mention that we switched engines and dropped the whole Crysis mod thing.

Got Textures?

We do now! :)

Okey not ALL the textures are there, but it's a start. Ain decided it was time to bring life and color into our vault. Personally I'm stunned. This is considering that the guy's got the flu, fell in love with a girl of his dreams, and to top it all off his neighbor's bloody dog hasn't stopped barking since last Thursday.

I'm stunned that he hasn't killed anyone yet :) .

To be honest these past few weeks were a bit weird but we did manage to make some decent progress on the game. So, we finally got animations and skinned models in. Here are a few shots for your viewing pleasure:

Models got a long way to go but are still fun to watch. Especially the chatty couple.

We also got a working weapon prototype that shoots projectiles at incredible speeds and ejects brass casings in a realistic, physically aesthetic and randomized fashion. I feel it is also important to mention that said casings bounce of the floor panels and whatnot. Physics is fun!

*** IMPORTANT : Featured Vault Suit texture is WIP!!! ***
(this was the best I could come up with at this point, a last ditch effort to save face :) )

We also got a whole bunch of sound libraries from the good folks over at www.shockwave-sound.com. Awesome stuff they got there. For now we loaded up on computer and machinery sounds, gunfire and foley, and various household sounds like fans, steam, shit falling down etc. etc. etc.

But wait there is more! We also got ourselves awesome mocaps (motion capture data files...I think that's what they call them :)) from these guys over here http://www.axyz-design.com. Again great stuff and not that expensive. So, our would be Vault Dwellers now feel very animated. Well everyone except for that bored looking dude sitting at the table.

To sum up: game development is fun!

...and then there was Boom!

Hey Guys,

I had so much fun bouncing poor Chester around the test level today that I decided to share it with you all. It ain't much but still kinda cool.

I finally finished my first rigged biped. It took me all day but it was worth it :)
I also hooked up a physics Explosion Force procedure to generate...well...explosions when you click on any part on a floor tile. A bit of a time waster but still learned a few interesting quirks. Anyway here are the pics:

This is all part of a bigger module really. We are currently writing scripts to handle projectile hits for various physicalized objects.
I hope that by Monday we will have a working version of a projectile emitter together with a rigid version of the dummy that will get ragdollized when a projectile hits it.

I know it's all a bit sudden, but as soon as I get a bit of free time on my hands I promise to explain everything.

PS: Just in case you are wondering who the hell Chester is, it's the blue ragdoll dummy assuming various kamasutra posses in the pics.

Oh, and the other dummy is Rigid Bridget the Frigid, Chester's girlfriend, she is a bit shy so no posing from her today.

We are still here...

Hey Guys,

I know it's been a while, but we have a good reason for our prolonged silence. What's the reason? 
Can't say it's a secret!

For now we are only going to post some teasers and updates to this blog, Crymod and NMA are out of the update loop for now. There's a reason for that too.
